City Hall Closed for Christmas and New Year’s Holidays Maintenance and Emergency Services Available
PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale’s administrative and business offices will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 through Wednesday, Jan. 1, in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, and as part of a cost-saving unpaid furlough. City offices will reopen for regular business hours, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.

In addition to savings to the City, it also affords a respite for most City employees to enjoy time with their families during the holidays.”
During the furlough, public works crews will handle any emergencies that may arise, including sewer overflows, roadway and right-of-way hazards, downed tree limbs, downed signs and potholes or broken sprinkler lines in City parks and landscaped areas. Street sweeping and park maintenance will continue during the furlough. In the event of emergencies, residents may call 661/267-5338 to report maintenance issues, and staff will respond.
The City’s furlough does not affect local Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department or Los Angeles County Fire Department services.
Legacy Commons for Active Seniors will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 through Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025. Senior boxed lunch pickup services are available during the closure on Dec. 26-27 and 30-31 from 11-11:30 a.m. Lunch must be reserved ahead of time and is not offered on the weekends. To make lunch reservations, please call 661/948-2320. Regular operations will resume on Thursday, Jan. 2.
South Antelope Valley Emergency Services (SAVES) will be closed for regular services starting Monday, Dec. 16 and will not resume regular operations until Monday, Feb. 3, 2025. Drive-thru food distributions will be offered on Monday, Dec. 23 and 30 from 2-4 p.m. Starting Thursday, January 2, 2025, SAVES will distribute drive-thru food on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. Visit www.CityOfPalmdaleCA.gov/SAVES for detailed information, including how to sign up for services or locate a food distribution location during the closure.
Palmdale City Library will be closed on Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, 2025, and will return to regular hours on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. Residents may access Library materials and services online such as Homework Help and eLibrary, at www.CityofPalmdaleCA.gov/Library.
Many City services are available online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
