Bomb Threat Monday afternoon at The Palmdale Aerospace Academy
Palmdale, Ca- Students, teachers, and staff at the Palmdale Aerospace were on lockdown this Monday afternoon after a bomb threat.
Palmdale LASD were a noticeable presence this afternoon as they took the precautionary measures of making extra patrols.
LASD began investigating the bomb threat just before noon.
Parents have taken this very seriously, and are upset after miscommunications with the school not advising them of a drill or id this was a real threat.
In a statement from the Palmdale Aerospace Academy official FB Page “Students were immediately moved to a safe location while deputies continue to search the school. While we do not believe these threats to be credible, we are taking every safety precaution possible in accordance with our safety plan.”
“ Update “
No school for students tomorrow
Dear Aerospace Academy Families,
Thank you for your patience as we work through and process today’s events. Let me begin by assuring you that our school has been declared safe after a thorough search of the entire campus by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies and K-9 units.
Today law enforcement alerted us that our school received a threat to the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff. Out of an abundance of caution, our local law enforcement evacuated the campus and initiated a student pick-up. These efforts were deputy-led and supported by our team. Unfortunately, we are unable to share any additional information at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
We understand that some of the actions taken today may have appeared counterintuitive, including waiting to alert parents of the situation. These actions were made under the direction of our local law enforcement professionals. We are grateful for their guidance and leadership. The team of deputies from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station responded quickly and provided constant direction that the TPAA team swiftly followed.
We are proud of our TPAA leadership, faculty, staff, and students for the way they conducted themselves today. We have the utmost confidence in our team and their ability to provide for the safety and health of our students.
We have heard our parents' comments and concerns. We appreciate your perspective and take your comments seriously. In an effort to learn from today’s events and improve, we are canceling school for our students tomorrow. TPAA staff, faculty, and leadership will be on campus to examine our response to today’s events and use this experience to revise and improve the policies and procedures already in place. We will also be working with the Palmdale Sheriff's station to strengthen and improve our combined plans and policies.
Our team of counselors will continue to be available to all of our students who desire to speak with them. As always, we welcome your comments and questions. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding, and for choosing TPAA. You make us great.
We look forward to welcoming our students back on campus on Wednesday for regularly scheduled classes.
