Aztec Dancers perform for PWW
Lake Los Angeles – Antelope Valley Indian Museum (AVIM) – On Thursday, December 2, 2021, the lovely ladies of the group Aztec Dancers performed their dances for the children, teachers and families of the Antelope Valley Preschool Without Walls (PWW).
The PWW students, teachers and families visited the AVIM as part of the November theme. The Antelope Valley Indian Museum was the destination for PWW November’s theme “Cultural Diversity”. Each month a theme is chosen as a guide to further enrich and expand upon the educational experiences of children.
The group is based in Palmdale. They gathered up all of their regalia, drum and hand instruments and sage to travel to the Museum to volunteer their cultural and traditional dances for the PWW group. At the end, the sound of the indigenous Conch shell was visibly moving as everyone stood silently listening.
Their regalia was stunningly beautiful and authentic as well as hand crafted. They are dedicated to preserving and teaching their heritage, their culture and their traditions. They practice twice a week to keep their skills sharp. The dances represent the timeless splendor of the culture. Through these dances, ancestors are honored, the indigenous legacy is alive and the historical and cultural identities are conserved. The splendor of the Aztec peoples are real, alive, well and never to be forgotten in these dances.
The group has been together for 16 years. Corinna Deladanza, the group’s leader said, “We will dance for your group or organization. We go wherever we are invited.”
To invite the group, please call Corinna at 661-383-7513. Please plan to converse in Spanish or have an interpreter on the line with you.
