AV TOPCAT deputies recover stolen catalytic converters

The AV TOPCAT Task Force is back at it again recovering these stolen catalytic converters.

Catalytic converter theft has been on the rise since 2020 due to an increase in payout for the metals the converters contain. Our task force is comprised of detectives that share a primary goal of investigating catalytic converter thefts.

Below are some tips to protect your vehicles from theft:

• Park in enclosed garages or well light areas

• Install security cameras that can monitor activity around vehicles

• Etch your license plate number onto your catalytic converter

• Install a protective device around catalytic converter
