PALMDALE, CALIF. – Taste buds across the Antelope Valley are preparing for the largest taco festival in the region. On Saturday, June 10, the Ventura Foundation will host the 3rd Antelope Valley Taco Festival in downtown Palmdale, where taco lovers can feed their passion with offerings from some of the best taquerias, restaurants and taco trucks around.
Between bites, attendees can enjoy a full schedule of live music, Lucha Libre wrestling, a chihuahua contest and other activities. The event will be held from 11:00am to 6:00pm at Poncitlán Square (38315 9th Street East, Palmdale, CA 93550), featuring a sold-out slate of 20 food trucks and nearly 100 vendors comprised of restaurants, breweries, local businesses and community nonprofits.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Antelope Valley charities including the Palmdale Community Foundation, Palmdale Sheriffs Boosters, area Chambers of Commerce and other vital local organizations. The event was founded by local business owners / philanthropists, Jorge and Vicki Ventura, whose main goal was to bring the community together to promote local small businesses and family-owned restaurants in the Antelope Valley.
“There are few foods more diverse, well-loved and unifying than the taco. The taco emerged from the humblest of origins to become a global force—arguably the most recognizable food on the planet.” stated Jorge Ventura. “What could be better than enjoying great tacos, award-winning craft beer and amazing music—all for a wonderful cause?”
The event, launched pre-pandemic in 2019, attracted more than 3,000 attendees. In 2022, more than 5,000 were in attendance and tens of thousands of tacos were dished out to happy patrons. The 2023 AV Taco Festival is projected to be the largest event thus far, fueled in part by a star-studded schedule of events.
The music lineup features R&B legend Tierra Legacy with special guest Sal Rodriguez of War, a tribute to Selena by Camila Soruco, a Juan Gabriel tribute by Leonardo Rivas and a high-energy performance by local band Seventh Switch. Lucha Libre wrestling, a chihuahua competition, Mariachi, traditional Aztec dancers and other folkloric performances will round out the event schedule. Children will be treated to a free petting zoo as well.
A limited number of General Admission tickets can still be purchased for $10.00 at the event website https://avtacofestival.com, or at the gate while supplies last. Event schedules, maps and other resources are also available on the website.
