ATV rider Accident In Littlerock.
On Sunday, May 23rd, an ATV rider was riding in the Littlerock area when they lost control and flipped over. The rider obtained both head and neck injuries and had to be air lifted out by LACO Rescue.
The rider was with a large group of people on multiple ATV’s and Side by Side Vehicles. The group had ridden out of their Littlerock neighborhood to access a popular dirt area.
Our Off Highway Vehicle Enforcement team responded to the call for service and cited two of the riders accordingly.
With the weather warming up, we have noticed the volume of this type of activity growing exponentially huge right now, especially in Littlerock.
Palmdale Sheriff's Station would like to remind our community of a few safety tips regarding riding these ATVs and other Off Highway Vehicles.
* Always wear a DOT-compliant helmet, goggles, long sleeves, long pants, over-the-ankle boots, and gloves.
* Never ride on paved roads except to cross when done safely and permitted by law - always be vigilant, another vehicle could hit you! ATVs are designed to be operated off-highway, not on public streets.
* Never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
* Never carry a passenger on a single-rider ATV, and no more than one passenger on an ATV specifically designed for two people.
* Ride an ATV that's right for your age.
* Supervise riders younger than 16; ATVs are not toys.
* Ride only on designated trails and at a safe speed.
