Palmdale -Ca , The number of children experiencing a parent dying of COVID-19 is staggering, with an estimated 37,300 to 43,000 already affected, according to researchers in JAMA Pediatrics.

In August 2020 Juan Jose Martinez. lost his mother, leaving a teenage son to care for his five younger brothers and sisters. Brenda Lopez, was 43, when she lost her battle to COVID-19.


A gofund me account was created to help them out during those difficult days. Juan

who promised his mother to look after his siblings and keep them together as a family. And now they are a homeowners, as a promised to his mother to stay together.


"Hello , my name is JuanJose Martinez on August 24 , 2020 my mom passed away due to COVID 19 and left 6 children behind. We all tested positive and recovered. I promised her that I will keep my siblings together and take care of them. My goal is to get a permanent home for my siblings , and make sure they are able to further their education by attending college. "Key Day🔑 This one so happens to be extra special to me. To say that I'm honored to represent this family is an understatement. You may have heard about the mother of 6 who passed away from coronavirus last summer in Palmdale. Her eldest son was left to take care of his siblings. Today I had the opportunity to present keys to this family. He has kept his promise to his mother." said Nikki Rodio a realtor in Palmdale who helped Juan and his siblings made a purchased of their own permanent home.

"This wouldn’t have been possible without the help from everyone who’s donated, Today we received our keys to our new home, From living in an apartment to a place my siblings can call home, We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts❤️ " said Juan Jose Martinez
