Palmdale LASD issues warning over illegal dumping.

Yesterday, while on patrol our deputies came across this truck. The deputies noticed the occupants were illegally dumping into a dirt field.

Our deputies stopped to question the driver. When asked why they didn’t take the load to the dump, he stated he had already used up his two free dumps, and didn’t want to pay the $110 fee.

Palmdale Municipal Code 8.36.080 for Illegal dumping states:

(A) Unlawful Dumping in Public Places. No person shall dispose of or dump waste matter of any kind or composition upon any public property, street or alley of the City including trash dumpsters, cans and receptacles, except where public property is provided and set apart by the City for such use.

(B) Unlawful Dumping on Private Property. No person shall dispose of or dump any waste matter in or upon any private property including any portion of the right-of-way thereof, or in or upon any private property into or upon which the public is admitted by easement or by license, or upon any private property without the consent of the property owner.

Our deputies stood by as they placed all their unloaded items back into the truck. The driver was then handed a $2,500 fine for the illegal dumping.

Something that could have only cost him a small fee, will now cost him much more.

Illegal dumping is a huge issue out here in the AV, and one of our top received

complaints from the community. Anyone caught in the act will be given a fine.
