Lake Los Angeles – Stephen Sorensen Community Regional Park – At Stephen Sorensen Community Regional Park (SSOR), on Thursday, March 5, 2026, the Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA) organized a presentation specifically focused on programs and services designed to directly assist seniors. This informative session aimed to highlight the various resources available through the AVTA, ensuring that older adults in the community are aware of and can access the transportation benefits tailored to their needs.
Ms. Iris Carrillo, AVTA Customer Service Representative, in an email to Ms. Nayeli, Senior Lead at SSOR, commented on the success of the program saying, “We appreciate your warm welcome at Stephen Sorensen Park and the opportunity to present AVTA's services for seniors in the community. The event was highly successful. We look forward to a future visit and will follow up via email with proposed dates and times. Thank you as well for sharing the photos.
“We have successfully entered all senior applicants into the Dial-A-Ride system. I have contacted each applicant to provide them with their client ID number. For those who did not answer, I left a detailed voicemail. Additionally, all Senior TAP applications have been prepared for mailing to TAP. In total, we completed 19 Senior TAP Card applications and 24 Dial-A-Ride applications, for a total of 43 applications.”
The presentation provided seniors with valuable information about the many tailored services, advantages, and security measures available through AVTA. Many participants gained a clearer understanding of the options designed specifically for their needs as seniors, which had previously been unknown or unclear. This improvement in knowledge empowered seniors to make more informed choices about transportation and related services. Additionally, the session contributed to reducing stress among attendees. By clarifying available resources and ensuring, the seniors felt supported and secure. The presentation helped ease concerns and fostered a sense of reassurances within the community.
Future presentations will be forthcoming to the LLA Senior Center. All seniors in the communities of Lake Los Angeles, Littlerock, Pearblossom, Sun Village and other unincorporated communities are welcome and encouraged to attend.
