California Legislature’s introduction of a proposed bill AB 2932 to reduce the standard workweek to 32 hours. AB 2932
would require employers with more than 500 employees to limit the workweek to four days and 32 hours.
Rep. Mark Takano of the 41st District in Riverside has introduced bill AB2932
According to Assembly Bill 2932, if an employee works 40 hours they’d need to be compensated for that extra eight hours by receiving at least time-and-a-half.
This new bill would not eliminate the 40 hour work week but would instead require employers to pay overtime after 32 hours.
