250 plates dished up

Lake Los Angeles – Stephen Sorensen Park – Parks after Dark (PAD) – At the park Saturday evening, there was live music, bar-b-que and grilled dinner, play pod, splash pad and more going on. The park was filled with families from 6:00pm until closing.

The community bar-b-que was ribs, chicken, beans and potato salad, drinks and fruit, prepared and served so generously by the Dawson Family who volunteered their food and service to the community again this year. Suggestions were for the Dawsons to open a restaurant in LLA. The food was outstandingly delicious and plenty of it. 250 plates of food were served, some being shared by parents with their smaller children.

There was an estimated crowd of 300+people in the park listening to the music of vocalist Yolanda Johnson and her outstanding band, singing and enjoying dinner together. The play pod and the splash pad got a serious workout.

Every table, every picnic table and every chair were occupied. Some families brought blankets and their own lawn chairs.

The Kona Ice Truck arrived to an exciting greeting by both child and adult. There were some cases of brain freeze. That Kona Ice is just too delicious.

Parks After Dark (PAD) continues with summer events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Come to the park, enjoy summer evenings at home and at no charge. There are so many fun things to do each evening. Don’t miss any of it! Our park is here for our families.
