2022 Aerospace Valley Air Show

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif.,--  The 2022 Aerospace Valley Open House, Air Show, & STEM Expo is on track to take place at Edwards Air Force Base, October 14-16.

The weekend will highlight STEM careers to the next generation, and help celebrate both the 75th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force, and the 75th anniversary of supersonic flight, which took place directly over Edwards on Oct. 14, 1947.

As the premiere Southern California aerospace event, the show will showcase the unique culture and industry within the greater “Aerospace Valley,” which is collectively anchored by U.S. Air Force Plant 42, Mojave Air and Space Port, and Edwards Air Force Base.

The world-famous U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds flight demonstration team will headline the show and include performances from nearly every aircraft in the current Air Force inventory, various NASA aircraft, and a world-exclusive special “Race to Mach 1” high above the crowd. The event will be anchored by a large STEM Expo, featuring dozens of hands-on activities that encourages the community to think big and create.

“The 412th Test Wing and Edwards Air Force Base are thrilled to welcome back our community and mission partners for a weekend of world-class excitement and STEM-focused education” notes Brig. Gen. Matthew Higer, commander, Edwards Air Force Base. “The 2022 Open House is a first in over a decade opportunity to showcase the technology and careers that enable our future force plus highlight the innovation that flourishes daily at The Center of the Aerospace Testing Universe, we cannot wait to see you there” noted Higer.

On Friday, Oct. 14, the base will hold the largest STEM event in United States Air Force history. Over 12,000 students from Fresno to San Diego are expected to attend the STEM Expo and observe the official air show practice. The morning will also feature a closed ceremony honoring the 75th anniversary of supersonic flight over Edwards. The Friday event will be open only to pre-registered students, active DOD card holders, and credentialed media.

On Saturday Oct. 15 – Sunday Oct. 16, the general public is invited to enjoy the world-class air show and STEM Expo from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
