Lancaster Sheriff's Station takes this time to remind our residents to SLOW DOWN. LOOKOUT for pedestrians in the roadway. Do NOT try to beat the yellow light. ALWAYS be aware of upcoming stop signs and be extra cautious on the open road such at Highway 138 (both east and west). BE ALERT to new traffic patterns. And NEVER text and drive.

A few weeks ago, our traffic investigators conducted a primary collision factor operation near Gadsden Avenue and West Avenue K, citing drivers for speed, failure to to yield, failure to use turn signals and failure to stop at a red light/stop sign. Any infraction that could lead to a traffic collision. Driver's were cited, educated and warned of the dangers of distracted driving. County areas have STOP signs at several major intersections. Areas such as 60th Street West from Avenue K to Avenue D have 4 way stops at nearly every intersection with blinking STOP signs and pavers on the road to get driver's attention. And yet, pedestrian fatalities, traffic collisions with serious injuries and reckless driving with exhibition of speed are still at all time high in the Antelope Valley. Let's all get to our destination safely! "If You See Something, Say Something" Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lancaster Station at (661) 948-8466.
