Lancaster Man Charged with Attempted Murder of 80-Year-Old

A Lancaster man was charged today with severely beating an 80-year-old man last week, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced. Damaris Wade aka Papa Cill (dob 3/15/98) faces one felony count each of attempted murder; elder abuse, infliction of injury; and second-degree robbery with allegations of inflicting great bodily injury upon a victim age 70 or older.
Deputy District Attorney Yujin Yi said Wade’s girlfriend, Tamika White (dob 5/23/87), faces one felony count of accessory after the crime, knowledge of robbery. Case MA079376 includes allegations that Wade was convicted of robbery in 2016 and White was convicted in 2014 of assault with a deadly weapon.
Arraignment is scheduled tomorrow in Department A01 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Antelope Valley Branch. On July 8, Wade allegedly beat up the elderly man at a supermarket restroom and stole the victim’s wallet, the prosecutor said. Bail for Wade is scheduled at more than $1.1 million and $100,000 for White. If convicted as charged, Wade faces a possible maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison and White faces six years in prison. The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Lancaster Station.
