Officer-Involved Shooting Reports for May 2020

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office today posted on its website eight officer-involved shooting (OIS) reports for May 2020.

There were no in-custody death reports issued for the month.

Click here to view the newly released reports: http://da.lacounty.gov/reports/ois The District Attorney’s Office has reviewed 252 fatal officer-involved shootings between Dec. 3, 2012, when District Attorney Jackie Lacey was sworn into office, and May 31, 2020.

One case involving a fatal on-duty shooting by a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was filed in December 2018. The others were declined for criminal prosecution.

Separately, District Attorney Lacey has filed criminal charges against more than 200 law enforcement officers for murder, sexual assault, domestic violence and financial fraud.

Of those, 24 law enforcement officers have been charged with excessive use-of-force: Eight were convicted and six were acquitted. Nine cases are pending. One was dismissed after the defendant died. About the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office
