An average of 1,297 children die every year due to gun related accidents. Secure storage is vital to the safety of children and is the responsibility of the gun owner.
Lancaster Sheriff's Station is proud to partner with Project ChildSafe as an advocate for gun safety. Through education of responsible gun ownership, we want to empower parents to ask about guns to other parents in the homes their children visit.
On Monday, June 22, 2020, we began distributing gun locks at our station lobby. We were thrilled to have several residents come in to pick up their gun lock. We still have several left! If you own a gun and are in need of a gun lock, stop by any time for a free gun lock.
There are many ways to secure a firearm, that still allow for fast access, and there is no excuse to place easy access above child safety. Let's do all we can to keep our children safe.
Lancaster Sheriff’s Station polices the City of Lancaster, Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, and the unincorporated communities of Antelope Acres, Lake Los Angeles, and Quartz Hill in the Antelope Valley.
