George Whitesides from Virgin Galactic donated $25,000 worth of PPE to support local healthcare work
Lancaster, CA. June 10, 2020 -- As the fight against COVID-19 enters a new phase, the City of Lancaster would like to take a moment to look back at the incredible achievements and milestones we have reached. We would not be reopening and recovering if not for all of our leaders and community members standing together during our most critical times.
At the start of the pandemic it became increasingly important to Mayor Parris that the City partner to meet the needs of our community. The Antelope Valley has always been the heart of the Aerospace Valley. With a long history of changing the world, it was almost expected we would do so, and during this time of crisis it was no exception.
“I would like to thank George Whitesides for his partnership with the City of Lancaster, a total of $25,000 worth of PPE was donated to support our local healthcare workers and the community. George’s desire to help the community also resulted in the AV Task Force being able to produce results in several areas. I could not be more proud” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. Many members of the AV Task Force participated in multiple daily calls, testing prototypes, and were hands-on with our community during this crucial time.
It is because of partnerships such as these that we are able to overcome even the most challenging of times. Without working together, we would be in a much different situation today. It is increasingly important for the City to continue cultivating the relationships around us and supporting each other. This Task Force is evidence that together, we are stronger.
