Dear Antelope Valley Fair Family and Friends,
We hope that all of you are staying safe, well and informed. When the “Stay at Home” orders were announced back in March, we realized that returning back to “normal” would take some time. We were all hopeful that by mid-May, our community would be on the road to a full recovery, and by late summer our beloved Fair would be in full swing. As we all know now, that road to recovery is steeper and longer than anyone could have anticipated.
During the past 4 months, our Board of Directors, staff and volunteers have been diligently working on ways to host various in-venue and virtual fair activities this year. We will continue to explore unique and safe options. However, it’s important to underscore that the health of our staff, family, friends and the community at large will always take precedence, and our planning will be done in a way that will not comprise the health and well-being of our community.
What we do know is that we will celebrate our 2020 Fair. Yes, it will be different, yes it will be safe, and yes it will be memorable. Many of us long for our traditional experiences, but we must be agile and committed to staying connected to each other, and to our community in new ways as we recover safely, together.
We continue to move forward, reinvigorating our Fair business and our community. Currently we are planning to host the Kiwanis’s Jr. Livestock Auction, select virtual still exhibit competitions, battle of the bands, community stage performances, possible drive thru fair food grab and goes, and more.
The Antelope Valley Fair & Alfalfa Festival has existed for 82 years, and together we will continue to be an iconic event, providing countless opportunities and lifelong memories. We will have a 2020 fair season. We will not quit, we will not cancel, and we will prevail! We are AV Fair Strong.
