Community Emergency Response Team “CERT” have been busy helping out in different aspects throughout

The Antelope Valley Community Emergency Response Team “CERT”, was activated on March 27, 2020 to help in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, they have been busy helping out in different aspects throughout the Antelope Valley.

The City of Lancaster, CA – Government , requested the CERT team’s assistance at Grace Chapel with Project Food Drop. A total of 23 members responded to this point of distribution (P.O.D.) and assisted with boxing up and delivering food to our “at risk” seniors. They provided a total of 160+ families with boxed food to last them a week.

On April 2nd-13th,

The City of Palmdale - Government, requested the AV CERT team to assist them with their COVID-19 testing center, held at the AV Mall. “Over the course of the 12 days our CERT members covered 87 shifts between the hours of 8 am to 4 pm. During this deployment, CERT members were responsible for traffic control and initial contact with subjects being tested,” said Area Commander, Mike Publicker.

Lastly, on April 11th, the AV CERT team was requested again by Lake Los Angeles’ Twin Lakes Church, to assist with another P.O.D. A total of 12 members responded to assist with traffic control and the loading crates into vehicles at the church. They managed to provide 200+ families with food, at this location.

Throughout all these assignments, the team members conducted these tasks in the safest manner possible. They had no direct contact with any individuals, all the members wore full PPE masks and gloves at all times, and their CERT attire.

Palmdale Sheriff Station, would like to thank the AV CERT team for their dedication to the Antelope Valley. They jumped at the opportunity to serve and protect their community, and are always ready to answer the call! Keep up the good work! We appreciate all that you do!
