Kern County Public Health Officials announces 267 confirmed COVID-19 cases, some of them are childre


Six of the new cases are children, according to the department, bringing the total for those 17 years old or younger to 10. There are 133 cases among those 18 to 49 years old.

Those between 50 and 64 represent 80 cases while there are 38 cases among those 65 and older, according to the department.

There have been 5,237 tests administered, 3,052 of which have come back as negative while 1,918 are still pending.

Kern County Public Health Services continues to recommend the following protective measures:

  • Wash hands with soap and water often

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. Follow label instructions for proper disinfecting.

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your elbow.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Stay away from work, school or other people if you become ill.
