Property crime reports to be handled over the phone. Deputies continue to patrol and protect our com

In an effort to minimize the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Sheriff Alex Villanueva has authorized taking property crime reports via the telephone. Lancaster Sheriff’s Station will begin to handle all property crimes except Residential Burglaries and Grand Theft Auto via telephone. If the victim’s information indicates to us the property crime has no workable information, the suspect is unknown, or the information provided would not lead to an immediate arrest our deputies will take the report over the phone. If the handling deputy determines additional information can be obtained, there is “workable” suspect information, or the investigation can be furthered by responding to the location, a deputy WILL respond. Please be aware our dispatchers and call takers will advise our residents the reason for the initial telephone call is for public health safety concerns. Most importantly: our deputies WILL be calling from a blocked number, so please ensure you answer that call. We know this is a fluid, fast moving, somewhat unprecedented situation. Rest assured however that we are all in this together. Our deputies will remain on patrol, protecting our residents and our community as they always have. If we work together, we can will get through this. Don’t panic, stay calm, wash your hands, stay home if you are ill and call us if you need us; we will be there! Lancaster Sheriff’s Station polices the City of Lancaster, Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, and the unincorporated communities of Antelope Acres, Lake Los Angeles, and Quartz Hill in the Antelope Valley.
