Public Deputy Gruppie chosen As The Grand Marshall In The Cinco de Mayo Parade

Lake Los Angeles – May 2, 2020, Lake Los Angeles will be transformed from a sleepy community whose streets roll up at 9:00pm to a bustling burst of energy with hundreds of breathtaking horses thrilling parade-watchers, bands, floats, traditional Folklorico and those lovely ladies in beautiful dresses dancing on the street and in the park on Cinco de Mayo 2020.
This year is the 26th Annual Charro Parade and Festival hosted by The Americanos en Acción group.
Gruppie has been Lake Los Angeles’ Resident Deputy since September 2017. When asked about the position, he said, "The resident deputy program is great. I'm not here because someone made me be here. I'm here because I want to be here. This is an assignment that I chose and worked hard to get."
On law enforcement interacting with LLA folks, Gruppie said early on being LLA’s Resident Deputy, "Their interaction with law enforcement now could have a huge effect on the next time they interact with law enforcement. This community is filled with excellent hard-working people. If you are good with the community, the community will be good to you."
The Americanos en Acción committee chose Deputy Gruppie based on his outstanding leadership record in the community and his constant dedication toward the community, its safety and the right of LLA families to secure, quiet enjoyment of their homes and neighborhoods.
The parade will start at 10:00am followed by the festival at 12:30pm at Sorensen Park. Free admission. For more information please call Sam at 661-209-2047.
