A moderate bloom at the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is predicted.

We’re currently predicting a moderate bloom at the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve.

There are some patches with lots of poppy sprouts, and patches with only a few here and there. The buds are just beginning to form and the first couple of flowers have now been spotted. We’ll have a great year for fiddleneck, and unfortunately, it looks like the grasses might be outgrowing the poppies which may affect the visual aesthetics of the bloom.

We have not yet received the minimum amount of precipitation that is typically necessary for a good bloom, so if we don’t get more rain, we may have a short season. For regular bloom updates and photos, visit our Facebook page www.Facebook.com/PoppyReserve, our website

Please remember: walking off trail, domestic animals, and bike riding on trails is prohibited. Drones are prohibited in the NAS above the reserve. Commercial and student filming/photography requires a permit (contact Matthew.Williams@parks.ca.gov). Food is only allowed in the picnic area; there is no food available for purchase at the park. Bring water and sun protection! The Jane S. Pinheiro Interpretive Center is open daily March 1st through Mother’s Day (May 10).
