Former Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca was behind bars at a federal prison in Texas Wednesday, serving a three-year federal prison sentence for obstruction of justice and lying to the FBI.
U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson issued an order directing Baca to surrender to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons on or before Feb. 5th , 2020 Wednesday.
The date marked the 21st day after the issuance of the mandate filed by the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on Jan. 15th, 2020
Baca and his chief deputy, Paul Tanaka, were both convicted. Tanaka was sentenced to five years in prison.
