On Tuesday February 4th the Deputies from the Community Partnerships Bureau, Antelope Valley team, along with LASD K-9 and Animal Control, conducted a search warrant operation at a location known for participating in illegal rooster fighting, as well as, raising/preparing roosters to fight. Over 100 roosters were seized. As you can see, the roosters seized today have had their combs and wattles cut off. This is done to enhance the roosters' fighting time, so they last longer during the fight for pure entertainment purposes of the individuals participating in the act of illegal rooster fighting. You may also notice their spurs have been cut. Individuals known to participate in rooster fighting, typically cut the roosters spurs and attach a blade in replacement of the spur.

This is done for further entertainment of the individuals participating in the act of rooster fighting. It is also common for these individuals to give the roosters various injections to enhance their small bodies, despite the risk of death and/or disease to the roosters. It can be unsafe for people to be around roosters who have been prepped to fight due to their violent demeanor, which is caused by the mistreatment of them and the preparation process to get them "fight ready."
