A driver fatally struck a woman and her dog on Pearblossom Highway in Littlerock.

A woman and her dog were fatally struck by a suspected DUI driver, who then fled the scene and injured at least five people in a multi-vehicle crash, just before 8 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The suspect, has been identified as Alfredo Rodriguez, 62, of Palmdale, fled the scene and was involved in a second crash in Palmdale on Avenue S at 25th Street East, where he was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, the CHP said. 

Anyone who witnessed either crash was asked to call the CHP's Antelope Valley Area office at 661-948-8541.
