Deputy involved shooting in kern County.

On December 28, 2019, at 5:13 p.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called for a report of a domestic disturbance. 

The call was disconnected, and the Communications Center called back. At 5:52 p.m., deputies arrived at the residence in the 1000 block of Water Street in Bakersfield and made contact with an adult male at the door. 

The adult male subject refused verbal commands from deputies and ultimately armed himself with an object and began advancing toward deputies. 

The officer involved shooting occurred at 6:01 p.m.

The subject was declared deceased by responding medical personnel. 

A deputy was transported to the hospital with a laceration to the head. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening. Deputies involved in the shooting will be on administrative leave per department policy.
