Fatal Car Crash 65 Old Woman Died.

LANCASTER — A 65-year-old Rosamond woman died from injuries suffered in a collision at 60th Street West and Avenue D on Monday.  The collision occurred shortly before 5 p.m., when a 2011 red Ford Focus driving northbound on 60th Street West stopped at the posted stop sign at Avenue D. A silver 2000 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup, driven by 58-year-old Saul Lozoya of Lancaster, was heading West on Avenue D, also known as State Route 138, approaching 60th Street West, when the Focus entered the intersection. Although Lozoya applied the truck’s brakes, he was unable to avoid colliding with the Focus, hitting the right rear of the car. This caused the car to spin clockwise and it came to rest off the road. The truck ended up on the right shoulder, West of the intersection. The passenger in the Focus was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital where she died from her injuries. The Focus driver, 73-year-old Leroy Wikander of Rosamond, was also injured and taken to Antelope Valley Hospital. The identity of the woman has not been released. CHP officials said alcohol and drugs were not considered a factor.
