Auto Fatally Strikes Pedestrian in Palmdale

On September 18, 2019 (Wednesday) at approximately 4:20 am, personnel from Palmdale Sheriff’s Station responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at the intersection of 10th St. West and Marketplace Dr, which is within the incorporated area of the City of Palmdale. The preliminary facts of this investigation indicate at approximately 4:20 am a 2003 Toyota Camry driven by a 21 year old female was traveling northbound on 10th St. West and did not see the 71 year old pedestrian crossing 10th St. West. According to party statements, the pedestrian was crossing against the red traffic signal. The 71 year old female pedestrian suffered a fatal head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Camry remained at the scene and was cooperative with deputy personnel. No indication of alcohol or drugs involved in this incident. Anyone with information regarding the traffic collision is encouraged to call Palmdale Station’s Traffic Department at 661-272-2400. The investigation is ongoing. Northbound lanes of 10th St. West at Marketplace Dr. were closed to routine traffic until 8:00 am while the incident was being investigated.
