Darren W. Parker has been a resident of the Antelope Valley for more than 25 years. Mr. Parker died after a battle with esophageal cancer. 

“Darren and I didn’t start out as friends; but we became more tolerable of each other as we’d have multiple opportunities to work together and eventually learn more of the other. Love him or hate him and his tactics, no one could argue that Darren committed his life to the Democratic Party, his fight for social, racial justice and organized labor. Collect your wings my brother, and may your soul Rest In Peace.” Linda K. Jones said. 

He was a local, state activist and advocate in minority, poverty, civil rights, civil liberties and cultural issues in the Antelope Valley. 

“Sad to hear about Darren Parker’s passing. It’s powerful activists like him whose legacy will live on for decades to come. My heart goes out to his family at this time”  Ca Gov. Gavin Newsom @GavinNewsom said on Twitter . 

“He was a hard-working person who was dedicated to this community” Pharaoh  Mitchell  said. 

Parker is survived by his five daughters and several grandchildren. 

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced by the family.
