Free Open Chess Play at the Palmdale City Library

PALMDALE – The Palmdale City Library, located at 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., is offering free open chess play for all ages on Saturday, July 6 at 10 am.

All ages and skill levels are welcome, including beginners. Chess sets are provided, as well as information on how to play the game.

“Playing chess helps you learn patience, concentration and focus” said Library Associate Laura Jolls, “and it can even increase cognitive skills.”

Free open play chess is offered on the first and third Saturday of each month at 10 am.

Upcoming open chess play will take place on Saturday, July 20, August 3 and August 17.

This is event is made possible through the generous support of the Friends of the Palmdale City Library.

The Palmdale City Library is open seven days a week. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm; Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.
