Lancaster DUI checkpoint resulted in several citations.

On Friday, June 21, 2019, the Lancaster Sheriff's Station Traffic Department screened 653 cars during a DUI/Driver's License checkpoint. The checkpoint, at Sierra Highway and Lancaster Boulevard, did not yield any drunk driving arrests, but 13 drivers were cited or arrested for driving without a license or with a suspended/revoked license. A representative from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) joined our deputies during the checkpoint, passing out flyers and speaking with drivers in an effort to continue to educate our public on the dangers of drunk driving. Last year, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigated 395 DUI collisions that killed 21 people and injured 590 more. If a driver is caught driving impaired, and if they are fortunate enough to not take their lives or the life of someone else in an accident, the fees, fines, DUI classes, license suspension and other expenses can cost more than $13,000. With so many resources available now, a safe ride home is just one quick text away. Please DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. Great job to our traffic unit for the ongoing work they do! #LASD #AV411 #MADD #dontdrinkanddrive Lancaster Sheriff's Station
