Man shot by homeowner after breaking into a residence in Bakersfield.

At 8:14am, Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 3100 block of Montello Street for a report of a burglary in progress.

Deputies on scene learned the suspect had armed himself with a hammer and broke into the home. 

The homeowner was inside the residence with her children. The homeowner armed herself with a gun, and fired one shot, striking the suspect.

The subject sustained mild to moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital. Upon release from the hospital, 33-year-old Andrew Oldham will face charges including robbery, child endangerment, assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.
