Inside Out, Youth Day Event at Eastside High School.

Our goal is to bring our city together and form that village to raise our youth.

We can not ask our youth to come together if we adults, leaders, and role models can't come together.

For the first time Lancaster will have that village standing strong to address the high schools, Middle schools, and elementary and the communities under one roof. This day our youth will understand that authority figures are human and they are parents, Grand Parents, ect. These walls that divide us will come down and we will discuss change for the better. We will discuss all the issues that plague our community: child abuse and neglect, bullying, suicide, human trafficking, mental health, substance abuse and special needs, Relationships with our Law enforcements, Schools Relationships, and Life Skills. By addressing all these issues in one event we are targeting everyone instead of one demographic. Sometimes when people struggle with these issues, they don’t feel comfortable asking for or seeking out help, however having access to the resources that they may need can diminish feelings of guilt or shame. There are many challenges within our community that families face like social class, education level, and economic status. This event will provide resources and supports to those community members that are severely underserved. In holding our event on the east side of Lancaster, we are bridging the gap in our community and squashing the East vs. West and culture vs. culture mentality, even if only for one day so we can come together as one community. This event is targeted to all children and their families, to help strengthen the family unit through advocacy, education, supportive services and support for solutions. We will provide resources that support educational, recreational, prevention and intervention programs which advocate for solutions. These resources can impact a family and lead to future successes and creates an environment where families can come together to help their children grow into happy, healthy and resilient individuals. One of the most underserved demographics in our community are those with “special needs.” We want to bring awareness to this because everyone is touched in some way by someone with special needs. The term “special needs” is commonly known as individuals who struggle with physical, developmental, behavioural, emotional, cognitive or sensory impaired concerns. Everyone at one point or other struggles with some form of these issues. Children who demonstrate these disabilities from time to time, can require extra time and support. As part of our program we are implementing a sensory tent which will provide sensory environments that can be highly absorbing, providing a moment of comfort and calm for overactive and distressed individuals, and helping inactive individuals to feel better engaged while attending community events. To reach our youth, our program uses music, arts and entertainment. This includes spoken word, monologues, acting, singing and dancing. One thing that everyone can agree on is that music soothes the soul and changes your mood in an instant. From the first few beats of that perfect song, you get taken back in time and can relive the memories. This event will also focus on children ages zero to five and their families. We feel that educating the community on the resources available to them will help to build stronger families that advocate for themselves and their children. We want to build supportive communities where children and families can thrive and empower one another. We will reach out to leaders in the fields of business, government, education, and religion to invite them to attend our event and show support for our community so we can begin to discuss how to solve the horrifying problems of child abuse, bullying, human trafficking and youth suicide in our community. Another goal we have for this event is to educate and bring together school administrators, teachers and staff on how to reach their students for a prolonged positive outcome. WE NEED EVERYONE TO COME OUT AND LET"S DEAL WITH THIS NOW!
