The 42nd Annual Memorial Torch Relay Run kicked off on Friday, May 17, 2019, at the Hall of Justice in downtown Los Angeles.

Over the course of three days, the torch is proudly carried by runners from 30 Sheriff’s mainland stations. After 56 legs and 339 miles throughout LA County, Sheriff Alex Villanueva will accept the Memorial Torch and use it to light the Memorial Flame at the Los Angeles County Peace Officers’ Memorial Wall. Last night, on a cold, chilly and rainy night, it was our turn. Explorer Class #102 proudly represented Lancaster Station, by running a 5 mile leg through the streets of Lancaster. North Patrol Division Chief Dennis Kneer led the run as we handed the torch to Palmdale Station. We will always honor and remember all who have lost their lives protecting our community. Great job to Explorer Class 102! #LASD #AV411 #myherowearsabadge Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department
