City of Lancaster to Host Free Used Oil and E-waste Recycling Event March 16

The City of Lancaster, in collaboration with CalRecycle, will host a free recycling event on Saturday, March 16, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event will be held at Lancaster’s 24-Hr Recycling Center, located at the City’s Maintenance Yard (615 West Avenue H). All Antelope Valley residents are invited to drive up and drop off their e-waste, used automotive oil, and cooking oil, as well as oil filters and labeled paint cans. The City of Lancaster encourages all Antelope Valley residents to take advantage of this free collection day to responsibly rid their homes of used oil, oil filters, paint, and e-waste. Dumping these items into the household trash is illegal, as well as detrimental to the environment. The City urges residents to help keep our valley healthy and clean by bringing these items in for proper disposal. Not only does this have a positive impact on the local environment, it also reduces costs associated with illegal dumping clean up, allowing funds to be redirected for other community programs and activities. Things to keep in mind when participating in the March 16 event: This event is for household quantities only, not businesses. Paint must be in its original container and have its original label intact. Aerosol paints, craft paints, or nail polishes will NOT BE accepted at this event. Mattresses will NOT BE accepted at this event. Those who are unable to attend this event are reminded that the Recycling Center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for recycling used automotive oil, oil filters, and e-waste. Items such as cooking oil, labeled paint cans, and anti-freeze can be dropped off Monday – Friday, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. The City of Lancaster WILL NOT ACCEPT light bulbs, tires, gas appliances, furniture, gasoline, hazardous chemicals, pharmaceutical waste, medical/biological waste, or sharps (needles).
