In Lancaster and Palmdale, along with Antelope Valley Partners For Health, two VITA program sites are available to help Antelope Valley area residents this March.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.
VITA volunteers are well aware in the important tax credits of the EITC and Child Tax Credit, or CTC, which reduce tax burden and often lead to a larger refunds to individuals and families.
Each VITA program site is staffed by IRS-trained and certified volunteers who offer services in both English and Spanish, with returns filed electronically.
You are able to use this program if you earn low to moderate income, are disabled, do not speak English well, or are a senior citizen.
