City of Lancaster Promises a Boo-Fully Good Time Awaits at the Annual BooLVD Halloween and Harvest Festival

October 19, 2018

The City of Lancaster invites residents and visitors alike to attend the ninth annual BooLVD Halloween and Harvest Festival.

The fun, family-friendly event will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 27 on The BLVD (between Sierra Highway and Genoa Avenue) in Downtown Lancaster. Everyone is invited to dress up and come enjoy the many kid-friendly attractions.

Back by popular demand, The BLVD “treat trails” will offer multiple candy collection stations, hosted at various locations along The BLVD — beginning at 1 p.m. (while supplies last). Groups and families are invited to participate in the annual BooLVD Costume Contest. Infants and children up to 12 years old (with an accompanying adult) may enter in the “cutest,” “scariest,” and most “creative” categories. Groups of two to seven people, of all ages, may enter to win “best group.” Signups for all contestants will be accepted from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the appropriate tent located on South Ehrlich Avenue. Winners will be announced at 4:15 p.m. on the Bandstand Stage.

A re-envisioned corn maze and activities for the little ones will be featured this year, as well as an expanded pumpkin patch for those still seeking the perfect pumpkin for carving. AV Dance Studio 81 will once again offer its kid-friendly haunted house, which draws young ones year after year. There will also be DJ selected Halloween themed music, a magician to entertain, and plenty of autumn-themed activities for the entire family to enjoy. Harvest-style attractions will include carnival games, vendors, cookie decorating, pumpkin decorating, and ghostly train rides.

Following the festival, the Lancaster Performing Arts Center will host the final showing in the Halloween Family Movie Night series at 6 p.m. for a nominal fee. Families may extend their BooLVD experience and enjoy Scooby Doo, complete with popcorn!

The festival is designed with families in mind, keeping the “scare factor” tame enough to intrigue, but not terrify the littlest trick-or-treaters. There will be so much to see and do at this year’s BooLVD Halloween and Harvest Festival; attendees are guaranteed to have an outrageously good time — without frightening their budget.
