Future is Now Preparatory has submitted a proposal to the Los Angeles County Office of Education for

By-Passing the Community!

Lake Los Angeles – 150th & East Avenue O Facilities – An organization called the Future Is Now Schools- Los Angeles has submitted a proposal to the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) for a charter school at the never-opened Saddleback School site on 150th Street East.

There is a 213-page document of the proposal that I have printed and submitted to the Lake Los Angeles Library for ready reference. The cover states that the proposal was presented to the Los Angeles County Board of Education on July 19,2018. In that document there are references: “In partnership with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (“LACOE”), Los Angeles County Supervisors Kathryn Barger and Mark Ridley-Thomas ….”

The community of Lake Los Angeles was by-passed for any in-put into this proposal and as such the community having been ignored it would be prudent to oppose this on the basis of trickery and deceptiveness. This has been in the works since July 19 with no communication between the organization and the community of Lake Los Angeles.

FACT: • Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger is not proposing or leading this project despite references to that effect in the proposal.

• The Supervisor will not support any project that does not have the input and support of the community.

The proposal will be on the Los Angeles County Board of Education agenda on October 16 at 3 p.m. at the LA County Office of Education Headquarters, 9300 Imperial Highway in Downey. Members of the public may attend the meeting and sign up to comment on the proposal.

Members of the public can also email their comments to: robles_beatrice@lacoe.edu prior to October 16. Pleased include “Future is Now Preparatory” in the email subject line.

LLA residents can flood the email with letters of opposition. Please send your emails of opposition as soon as possible. Although the email comments will be open up to October 16, it is to our advantage to get our emails in swiftly and professional in tone. robles_beatrice@lacoe.edu
