Hundreds of children and teens in Palmdale got free toys from SAVES.

This past Christmas SAVES was able to provide toys and presents for over 1600 children and teens. Over 345 families received food for Christmas dinner.

At SAVES they were busy on both days handing out toys and putting a smile on every single face. Many volunteers came out on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd 2017, that helped with the distribution of food baskets. "I would like to thank the many hands that made this giveaway possible and fun", Patricia Morales said

Children received new toys, including footballs, basketballs, dolls, and board games, according to photos from the event of the giveaway at the South Antelope Valley Emergency Services (SAVES).

It's always great to see how our community comes together to support these great events" " We are very committed to provide our families with a dignified and fun experience" Patricia Morales Coordinator at SAVES said in a statement.

SAVES is dedicated to alleviating hunger among very low and extremely low income* working families, elderly, disabled and homeless in the south Antelope Valley (Palmdale, Littlerock, Pearblossom, Llano, Lake Los Angeles with Palmdale Zip code, Acton and Lake Elizabeth). SAVES helps sustain the lives of thousands of people by assisting them with nutritious food, education and referrals in cooperation with other agencies.

We envision a community in which all people have access to healthy food and other basic necessities of life. We are committed to working collaboratively to develop a healthier, food-secure community through direct service and advocacy. Each day, we manifest the values of service, compassion and justice in our work.

The day-to-day operations of SAVES and staffing are funded through Community Development Block Grants (CDBG). Food is provided through a collaboration with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, federal programs, and the daily contributions of local markets, stores and restaurants. SAVES donates extra food to local senior centers, sober living homes and other food assistance programs.

Founded in 1983, SAVES is a City of Palmdale program managed by the Neighborhood Services department.
