A stretch of 138 Highway will be renamed in honor of Larry Chimbole First Mayor Of Palmdale

A section of Highway 138 in Palmdale will be rename after Mayor and former Assemblyman Larry Chimbole. The measure was brought forward by Assemblymembers Tom Lackey (R-Palmdale) and Scott Wilk (R-Santa Clarita).

A group of supporters will now raise the private funds needed to place sign with Larry Chimbole name along the section of the 138. A gofundme.com account has been established to raise the funds needed to pay for the sign and the placement.

Larry Chimbole served our community and nation as a World War II Army veteran, the City of Palmdale's First Mayor and as a Member of the State Assembly.

He was a friend to the entire Antelope Valley and a tireless advocate for the City of Palmdale. Following his passing, Assemblyman Tom Lackey authored legislation designating a portion of Highway 138 along Palmdale Blvd as the Larry Chimbole Memorial Highway.

This fund was established as a vehicle for community members to raise funds to purchase and install the signs. All funds collected will go towards the actual cost of the signs, with any excess funds donated to a Palmdale charitable organization to be determined by members of the Chimbole Family.

Funds will be held in a not-for-profit account established as the Larry Chimbole Memorial Fund, registered with the IRS.
