PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale proclaimed April as Fair Housing Month in the City with a gathering at the Yucca Neighborhood House on Monday, April 18.
Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford presented a proclamation to Housing Coordinator Terri-Lei Wheeler on behalf of Housing Rights Center Executive Director Chancella Al-Mansour. Students who attend programs at the Yucca House displayed their handmade fair housing art and talked about their upcoming projects related to Fair Housing Month.
The City of Palmdale hosts housing rights clinics at South Antelope Valley Emergency Services (SAVES), 1002 E. Ave. Q-12 on the 3rd Thursday of every month. The next clinic is this Thursday, April 21 from 1 to 4 pm.
The clinics provide an opportunity for residents to ask questions and receive answers about fair housing, rent increases, repairs and more.
The Housing Rights Center is a nonprofit agency that works to help provide equal housing access to all residents in the communities it serves. The Center assists homebuyers, rental tenants and housing professionals with free counseling services on fair housing law, public education seminars on housing discrimination and landlord/tenant issues.
