Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Lancaster Museum of Art & History with a Farm-to-Table Tea

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a Farm-to-Table Tea at Lancaster’s Museum of Art and History (MOAH) on Saturday, May 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Paid guests will have the opportunity to preview the seasonal exhibition, Artist as Subject; indulge in a champagne reception; enjoy a delicious multi-course meal catered from a menu featuring fresh produce from local farms; and sip locally-sourced tea. Attendees will also have a chance to craft floral place-settings which will become a one-of-a-kind parting gift at the end of the event. MOAH’s headline artist, Rebecca Campbell, will be in attendance. Like each of the artists in the exhibition, whose work focuses on the artist as subject, her series of paintings and installation, named The Potato Eaters, were inspired by historic photographs of her family members, many of which were taken before her birth. Campbell shared that the poignant images examine "aspects of family and cultural history, memory, documentation, and nostalgia." This series specifically addresses the relationship between the past and the present, and the way cultural artifacts shuttle between the two. The title of her series is drawn from Vincent van Gogh's 1885 masterpiece portraying Dutch peasants gathered at a meager meal. The series explores how the rural past of her potato-farming family speaks to her contemporary city existence. All proceeds from the Mother’s Day Tea will be used to benefit future arts and cultural programming at the City of Lancaster's museums and public art spaces.
