City of Lancaster Recognizes AV High School’s Girls Basketball Team, Lady Antelopes, for Winning the

During Tuesday evening’s City Council meeting, Mayor R. Rex Parris and the City Council recognized the Antelope Valley High School girls’ basketball team, the Lady Antelopes, for their recent title win. On March 4, 2016, the Lady Antelopes emerged victorious against La Cañada’s Spartans, winning their first CIF Southern Section title – which was in fact the first CIF-SS title for any girls’ basketball team in the Antelope Valley. “On behalf of the entire City Council, I congratulate the Lady Antelopes on their incredible achievement,” said Mayor Parris. “This triumph has made the Antelope Valley community proud as we celebrate our first CIF title win for any girls’ basketball team in the Antelope Valley.” The CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) is the governing body for high school sports in the state of California. Comprised of ten sections, its Southern Section is the largest, containing 581 schools. The Lady Antelopes have gone on to win four games in the state playoffs. They will be competing for the CIF State Girls Basketball Division IV Championship on Saturday, March 26 in Sacramento.
