“Adopt-a-Block: Hammack Neighborhood” is  City of Palmdale’s Next “Season of Service” Project

PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s 2016 “Season of Service” continues on Saturday, April 2 with an “Adopt-a-Block: Hammack Neighborhood” project to be held in the area around the City’s Hammack Neighborhood House, located at 1012 East Avenue Q-5, , in Palmdale.

Registration will take place at the Hammack Neighborhood House from 8 to 8:30 am, and the event will run from 8:30 to approximately noon. City staff, community partners from the Palmdale Dream Center, AV YouthBuild, Advancing Communities Together (ACT) and New Image Church, and residents will come together to make a difference in the community, by sprucing up the neighborhood with a joint clean up effort.

New for 2016, the City is also promoting the Season with a ‘Serve or Give” theme. Wish list and service needs of the various partners such as the South Antelope Valley Emergency Services (SAVES), ACT, Neighborhood Houses, and the like will be posted. Students and organizations that cannot participate in the scheduled events can create their own projects around the lists. A current list is available at

Time: 8 – 8:30 am registration; 8:30 am project begins.

Youth and the young at heart will join with youth around the world in celebrating International Global Youth Service Day by giving back to their community.

Stamp Out Hunger - Saturday, May 14, 2016

Community Partner: United States Postal Service

Location: SAVES, 1002 East Avenue Q-12, Palmdale

Partner with local letter carriers for the 23rd Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Food assists local families in need.

Volunteer under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants must complete a Release of Liability (available or at event registration).
