The Lancaster Performing Arts Center Foundation (LPACF) is accepting applications for their new Performing Arts Scholarship. The Foundation is committed to honoring the talent and dedication of one local area high school senior annually with a $5,000 performing arts scholarship. This opportunity is open to students who intend to pursue a degree in the performing arts (including technical fields), and may be utilized to further their studies at any accredited university, college, or institution of higher learning. “Whether a student desires to work towards a career on the stage or behind the scenes, we want to afford them the best opportunity to pursue their goal,” said C. Todd Porter, LPAC Foundation Director and Scholarship Committee Chair. “For more than twenty years, the Foundation has provided students with exposure to the performing arts through the Arts for Youth (AFY) program with ticket scholarships, bus funding, and outreaches. Through the generous support of LPACF donors, LPAC is now able to take the AFY to the next level by providing exposure and inspiration to students.” The criteria for application includes: a submission of the student’s talent or skill, academic background, short essay, and community involvement. The deadline to submit an application is Thursday, March 31, 2016. Finalists will be selected by May 5, 2016 for a talent/skill demonstration and interview. Application packets are available at Lancaster City Hall, Department of Parks, Recreation and Arts, 44933 Fern Avenue or may be downloaded atwww.lpacf.org.
