City of Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris presented Davis, a Paraclete alumnus, with a Key to the City

Today, the City of Lancaster and Paraclete High School joined together to honor Denver Broncos linebacker and Antelope Valley native, Todd Davis, fresh from the Broncos’ recent Super Bowl 50 victory. City of Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris presented Davis, a Paraclete alumnus, with a Key to the City. “In 2010, I was privileged to recognize this outstanding young man as the ‘Mayor’s Athlete of the Month.’ Now, a mere six years later, he is a Super Bowl Champion!” said Mayor Parris. “Todd has already become more than a sports star; he has made it a point to give back to his community and to act as a role model. Here in the City of Lancaster, we continually innovate in order to create an environment which cultivates great leaders, such as Mr. Davis.” Born in Inglewood, Davis and his family later moved to the Antelope Valley, where he attended Paraclete High School, and played football for the Paraclete Spirits. Todd Davis received a number of athletic awards, including first team all-state (small schools) and the AV Press Defensive Player of the Year (twice). An exceptional young man, Todd was a member of the National Honors Society, made the Principal’s and the Dean’s Lists, and served as the Associated Student Body Head of Club Affairs – all while volunteering at his church. Todd graduated from Paraclete in 2010 and went on to attend California State University, Sacramento, where he played for the Sacramento State Hornets from 2010-2013. Davis joined the New Orleans Saints in June 2014, making his NFL debut on October 19, 2014 against the Detroit Lions. A month later, he signed with the Denver Broncos. Mr. Davis has now played in the NFL for two seasons, helping the Denver Broncos win this year’s Super Bowl 50. Davis, who returned to the valley last summer to host a football camp for local youth, spoke to the Paraclete students about the importance of always doing the right thing and being a positive role model. Mr. Davis was welcomed back to his Alma Mater by members of the football team and cheer squad, as well as Paraclete Principal John Anson, who presented Todd with his former Spirits jersey. “The Todd Davis story is a great one,” concluded Principal Anson. “Todd is a very good athlete and an even better person, whose success is because of his hard work and commitment to his faith and his God. Paraclete is proud to call Todd an Alum!”
