Palmdale City Council to Honor Super Bowl Champion Todd Davis at Meeting

July 16 to Be Proclaimed Todd Davis Day in Palmdale

PALMDALE – The Palmdale City Council will honor Palmdale resident Todd Davis, a member of the 2016 Super Bowl winning Denver Broncos football team, at its March 2 meeting, presenting him with a proclamation that will declare July 16 as “Todd Davis Day” in Palmdale.

“Todd Davis is a great role model for young student athletes everywhere,” said Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford. “His example of hard work, tenacity and determination are proof that dreams can and often do come true.  Todd also gives back to the community, including his annual football camp at Highland High School this coming July 16, which will also be Todd Davis Day in Palmdale.”

Davis is the second football player from Palmdale to win a Super Bowl ring, and the first Paraclete High School graduate to do so. Former Highland High School star DeShawn Shead won a ring with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014.

Davis began his football career when he was nine years old playing for Highland Youth Football, and he enjoyed a highly successful high school career at Paraclete High School, with 119 tackles as an outside linebacker. He attended Sacramento State where he was named defensive MVP, received all Big Sky Conference Honors, and had 131 tackles in his senior year. Davis was originally signed by the New Orleans Saints of the NFL in 2014, released by the club, but then signed with the Denver Broncos later that year.
