Wilsona School District Bus Driver Training

LAKE LOS ANGELES – Wilsona School District’s Transportation Department has scheduled a school bus training event for interested applicants in preparation for normal attrition and/or any increase in District ridership. The training will be held at the Transportation office which is behind the Wilsona Elementary School campus. The dates of the training are March1 through March 10 starting at 8:15am through 11:15am. The training is at no charge to the applicant.

The training course includes 20 hours of classroom training and 20 hours of behind the wheel training. Applicants will be required to take the California Commercial Driver License Test and get the required endorsements at DMV. Commercial license includes passing a physical examination. Applicants will be required to have a high school diploma or equivalent GED, provide their 10-year driving record (DMV provides), pass a drug screening, cannot have a felony or certain misdemeanors convictions and pass a background check.

Driving will be on the streets of Lake Los Angeles, mountain driving, roads to Lancaster and Palmdale, roadways within the cities and freeways.

After 20 hours of classroom training and prior to taking the 20 hours of behind the wheel training, the applicant would go to CHP to be tested more specifically on school bus regulations and first aid. After completing 20 hours of behind the wheel, then the applicant would then take the DMV commercial driving test.
