TED Talks Return for 2016 to Palmdale City Library

PALMDALE – The Palmdale City Library will host a viewing of selected TED talks at the Library, 700 E. Palmdale Blvd, on Monday, Feb. 1 from 6 to 7:30 pm.

This free, mind expanding program is open to the public, and participants will be able to hear some of the greatest developments in society today.

“Last month we had interesting talks on happiness, hacking, dow

nloading clothes and training dogs,” said Library Director Thomas Vose. “What will the next month bring? Find out by stopping by.”

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.

The Palmdale City Library is open seven days a week. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm; Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.

For more information, please call the Palmdale City Library at 661/267-5600 or TDD 267-5167, or visit www.cityofpalmdale.org/library.
